This illustration is inspired by the tale of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl from Chinese mythology, symbolising the challenges of long-distance relationships. In this timeless story, their love is forbidden, yet once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, a flock of magpies forms a bridge, allowing them to reunite for just one day.

In my interpretation, I aim to capture the essence of this enduring love story. Like two celestial bodies separated by the vast expanse of the Milky Way, the couple in the illustration refuse to give up on each other. Instead, they diligently fold paper to craft their own magpie bridge, symbolising their determination to overcome any obstacle and unite once more.
